Project Overview
Structural steel design and workshop drawings for Snow City, inside the City Stars Mall.
Challenge
The location of Snow City found within the existing mall of city stars in Nasr city posed a great challenge as the construction methods that can be used during installation of the steel columns and beams required the utilization of compact and light steel beams and columns. On the other hand, the operational requirements of the client required huge free spans and operational loads much higher than common practice.
Our Approach
The project required innovative structural solutions to achieve large free spans and high operational loads within a confined mall environment. Coregineer's engineering team utilized advanced systems such as space trusses, Vierendeel and castellated beams to deliver a lightweight yet robust structure capable of supporting live loads up to 10 kPa and spans of 24 m. The design was reviewed and validated by an international expert team and later adopted for similar global projects.
